ombiphar, Indonesia’s local leading consumer healthcare company, will return to sponsor the third edition of the Players Championship on the Asian Development Tour (ADT) at the New Kuta Golf Club in Bali from Nov. 6 to 9.

Offering a prize purse of US$100,000, the Combiphar Players Championship will be played for the third successive year. It will also be the 21st leg and the penultimate event on the 2018 ADT schedule.

“We are thrilled to work with the Asian Development Tour again this November after staging successful golf events the last two consecutive years. We believe that the Combiphar Players Championship shows the company’s consistency in inspiring Indonesians to implement a healthy and active lifestyle. This is also in line with Combiphar’s commitment that is ‘Championing a Healthy Tomorrow’ to help create a healthier Indonesian generation,” said Combiphar president director Michael Wanandi.

Being one of the richest events on the schedule this season, the Combiphar Players Championship will be crucial in the race for the ADT Order of Merit title as well as the 2019 Asian Tour cards on offer for the leading seven players on the final money list. A total of 144 golfers will participate in the 2018 Combiphar Players Championship, which consists of 90 ADT players from 25 countries, 40 local player members from the Professional Golf Association Tour of Indonesia and 14 invitational golfers.

Focusing on consumer health care in Indonesia, Combiphar initiates two pillars of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The first pillar focuses on sports activities, namely the Combiphar Players Championship, Combiphar Tennis Open and Combi Run. The second pillar provides early healthy living education and women empowerment, which are embodied through Combi HOPE Healthy Living Education and Combi HOPE Women Empowerment.

Local hopefuls will get another opportunity to compete against a talented field on the ADT and showcase their talent on an international level through the staging of the event, which is the Tour’s third and last stop in Indonesia this season.

All ADT events offer Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points. The winner will receive six OWGR points while the top six players and ties will also earn points based on a sliding scale. The top-seven finishers on the final 2018 Order of Merit will secure their Asian Tour cards for 2019.

“By organizing an international golf championship in Indonesia, we aim to help Indonesian professional golf players increase their Official World Golf Ranking and at the same time, give them valuable experience to compete with other international players. We do believe that our national professional golfers are talented and capable of competing in international tournaments and thus, we encourage them to take this opportunity to not only boost their international rank but also have a greater chance to participate in the 2020 Olympics,” Michael added.

Asian Tour chief operating officer Cho Minn Thant lauded the outstanding support and commitment from Combiphar.

“On behalf of our talented players, we are pleased to see the Combiphar Players Championship returning to the ADT Schedule. Being a championship for the players, it is important that the event remains a main-stay on the schedule. I would like to thank Combiphar for their title sponsorship once again this year,” he said.

“The ADT has welcomed 11 new winners in total so far this season and we are thrilled to see emerging stars from across the region and over the world making use of this platform to attain greater heights in their burgeoning careers.”

Combiphar was founded in 1971 as a pharmaceutical company that focuses on four business sectors, with Combi Consumer, Combi Health, Combi Nutrition and Combi Bio.

It has transformed to become a leading fast-growing local consumer healthcare company in Indonesia that produces and markets more than 80 high-quality, affordable products such as OBH Combi (cough medicine), and JointFit (joint pain relief gel), Prive Uricran (supplement for bladder infections), Insto (eye drops), Apta+ (nutritional milk for adults) and Hazendra supplement to improve liver function.
