tate-owned bank PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) continues to gain recognition for its committed financing role, with president director Sunarso again named The Best CEO in banking transformation.
The award was presented at the CNBC Indonesia Award 2020 in Jakarta on Dec. 10.
Sunarso is deemed successful in carrying out the transformation in BRI, which has been empowering micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Launched in 2016, the transformation movement sees BRI build the strength in driving the people's economy amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The transformation carried out by BRI includes two aspects, namely digital and cultural transformation. We have turned the COVID-19 pandemic into an opportunity to accelerate this transformation," Sunarso said.
The digital transformation encompasses operational processes (digitalizing services and transaction systems), service platforms (building digital ecosystems) and new business models that can create added value by providing digital products and services to customers.
The cultural transformation has created a performance-based culture change that can drive BRILIaN community members toward designing their own success with BRI.
To support this performance-based culture, BRI has prepared a fair system, which lays a foundation for BRI to realize one of its aspirations as Home To The Best Talent.
"BRI in the future must be able to serve as many people as possible at the lowest possible cost -- go smaller, go faster, go shorter and go cheaper. With this direction of transformation, BRI now provides various digital-based banking services that are much more efficient and can cater to a wider market,” he said.
Under Sunarso’s leadership, BRI continues to bring innovation and creativity through digitalization of services, such as a digital loan called “Ceria” (cheerful), digital saving and digital financial application BRImo.
