Thailand’s sepak takraw men’s team secured gold at the Jakabaring Sport City, Palembang, on Wednesday. Thailand defeated Malaysia 2-0, dominating right from the start with 21-15, 21-13 in the first match and 21-19, 21-13 in the second match.

However, the final round witnessed protests from Malaysian coach Ahmad Abd Talib over the judge's decision to skip a fault by Thailand's Anuwat Chaichana.

Thailand snatched gold at the 2017 Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia, followed by Indonesia with silver and Malaysia with bronze.

In the women's team category, Thailand face Korea in the final while Myanmar and Vietnam shared the bronze medal.

Saiful Herson M, Indonesia's sepak takraw captain, said they were still optimistic for the hosts, ”We will give our best.”
