An Indonesian folklore festival that is opening on Oct. 28 at the indoor tennis stadium in Senayan, Jakarta, aims to encourage university students to appreciate and preserve their literary culture.
Organized by the Indonesian State University Alumni Association (Himpuni), Festival Folklor Nusantara (Nusantara Folklore Festival) also seeks to unite youths from different universities across the archipelago through their shared cultural diversity.
Nusantara means archipelago, and is often used as a moniker for Indonesia.
Antara reported that the festival highlight was to be a competition featuring student choirs from state and private universities.
