Traditional markets to standardize
DENPASAR: Thirty-three heads of traditional markets in Denpasar have united in a forum to draft standards for management, trader attitudes, cleanliness and product prices, which will be enacted as a bylaw.
There are 49 traditional markets in Denpasar, of which 16 are managed by city-owned company Perusahaan Daerah, with the other 33 founded and controlled by 33 customary villages.
“It is important to change the traders’ mind set so they display their products well, give friendly service and reasonable prices,” the forum coordinator, I Nyoman Suwartha said.
