Denpasar: Buyan Lake in Sukadasa district, Buleleng regency, overflowed over the last several days after incessant rainfall, thereby forcing people living in nearby areas to flee.

The water from Buyan Lake, one of four lakes in Bali, previously inundated dozens of hectares of agricultural farms causing crops to fail, according to reports from the administration’s communication bureau.

“We have been forced to wait for several days until the water subsides so we can return to our daily activities,” I Nyoman Reka Danu said as quoted by Antara news agency on Monday.

The water level of Buyan Lake, which covers 4.93 hectares, has shown no sign of returning to normal, and it is still dangerous for local residents to stay there.
