Aussie teen dies in snorkeling accident

DENPASAR: A 16-year-old Australian teenager has died in a snorkeling accident at Crystal Bay, a water sports resort in Nusa Penida, on Thursday.

The accident happened when the victim, identified as Jack Francis McCabe, was with his family on the beach off a small island offshore Bali. The victim was snorkeling at the time of the accident. When ascending, the victim hit his head on the hull of a boat and immediately gave a signal of distress.

 “His father jumped into the sea and helped his son. He tried to resuscitate the boy, but to no avail. The victim was then rushed to the Nusa Penida community health center; however, he passed away during the trip,” Yoga, a center medical officer, said as quoted by antara.com.

 The body has been taken to Sanglah Central Hospital in Denpasar for an autopsy.
