Denpasar: The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) hosted a urine test for 50 civil servants who work at the Agency of Labor, Transmigration and Social Affairs in Denpasar on Friday.

“We want to know if there is any drug use among our employees. All have tested negative, fortunately,” said the head of the agency, I Made Erwin Suryadarma.

The urine test is part of the implementation of presidential instruction No. 12 of 2011 regarding prevention and eradication of illegal drugs in government institutions.

BNN is targeting examining around 250 people in 15 institutions and 10 private companies in Denpasar, as well as 1,500 students in different schools.

There were 163 drug-related cases in Bali last year, while as of July this year, 75 new cases had been recorded.
