Police arrest thief who mugs Italian

Denpasar: The police arrested 27-year-old Feddy Soni Mordani for stealing a handbag belonging to an Italian tourist.

The thief was arrested at his rental room on Jl. Gelogor Carik in Pemogan area of Denpasar on Tuesday night.

The Italian tourist, Susanna Fabris, reported the case to the Kuta police precinct. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon when Susanna was crossing Jl. Sarinade Camplung Tanduk in Seminyak.

The handbag contained a BlackBerry, digital camera and cash of Rp 400,000.

When arrested, Feddy admitted that he needed money to go home to Sumenep on Madura Island.

Kuta Police Deputy Chief I Made Suwirta said that Feddy had also stolen a handbag belonging to a foreigner seven months ago because the man refused to pay his fee having hired him as a motorbike taxi. --BD
