Discount market at Tunas Daud school
Denpasar: Tunas Daud school in Denpasar organized a discount market to help low-income families cope with the rocketing prices of staple food during Ramadhan fasting month. The discount market was held in connection with the school’s anniversary.
“The discount market is part of our anniversary activities. We hope this event could help people to get cheaper staple food,” development coordinator for Tunas Daud school, Vonny A Susanta, told Bali Daily on Saturday.
At the discount market, the school also distributed a free coupon worth Rp 50,000 (US$5.30) to poor families living in Padang Sambian Kaja village.
“With the coupons, they can buy staple food based on their needs. We hope this activity can help poor families,” she said.
Besides holding the discount market, the school also held several social activities to celebrate its anniversary, such as free medical treatment, free eye examinations and the distribution of free glasses for those who needed them.
