Denpasar: To anticipate the flood of passengers during the Independence Day and Idul Fitri holidays next week, PT Angkasa Pura I airport management plans to add more flights to and from Ngurah Rai International Aiport in Tuban.

Efferson Siregar, the airport’s operational manager, said, as quoted by Beritabali.com, the extra flights would operate from four days before until three days after the Idul Fitri holidays, which fall on Aug. 19 and 20.

Siregar predicted that the number of air passengers departing from Ngurah Rai airport would likely increase by 30 percent.

“During the Idul Fitri holiday, the number of passengers will likely reach 21,000 persons per day. During a normal period, the airport accommodates 16,000 domestic and international passengers,” he said. He said the most crowded routes would be those to and from Jakarta, Surabaya, Yogyakarta and Medan.
