Sixth day of PON Riau, Bali snatches four golds
PEKANBARU: On the sixth day of the 18th National Games (PON) in Riau, four Balinese athletes, in weightlifting, tarung derajat (a full-body contact martial art), athletics and shooting, won gold medals, bringing the province to 13th place in the medal tally.
National weightlifter Sinta Darmariani, who represents Bali, on Friday brought home the province’s fourth gold medal in the final of female weightlifting 69-kilogram class.
Bali’s first gold medal was captured by tarung derajat fighter, I Nengah Sudika a day earlier.
The two other gold medals came from long jumper Maria Natalia Londa and shooter I Ketut Sudiana, who won in the final of the men’s individual 10-meter air pistol event.
As of Friday, Bali ranked 13th with a total of four gold medals, three silver medals and 11 bronze medals. PON, featuring 30 sports and 512 competitions, is scheduled to end on Sept. 20.
