Bali’s gross domestic product is negative
Denpasar: Bali’s gross domestic product for the first quarter of 2013 has experienced negative growth with a contraction of 0.33 percent compared to the same period in 2012.
“The negative growth was caused by the slowdown in the agriculture sector, trade, as well as hotel and restaurants, each of which grew at between -2.97 and 0.27 percent,” Gede Suarsa, head of Bali Statistic Agency (BPS) said, as quoted by Antara news agency on Monday.
Suarsa said some other sectors, including food and fisheries, also experienced negative growth at -5.6 percent and -2.8 percent.
Hotels and restaurants shared negative growth of -1.85 percent and -0.56 percent respectively.
Meanwhile, construction grew positively at between 3.05 percent to 3.10 percent.
