Kukub village temple burns down
Tabanan: The village temple in Kukub, Tabanan regency, caught fire on Monday, causing several holy artifacts to be lost in the fire.
“No lives were lost in the temple fire,” said I Nyoman Budiasa, an eye witness who lived not far from the scene, as reported by Antara news agency.
At first, he saw the smoke rising from the thatched roof over the shrine. “Because it’s thatched, the fire spread quickly,” he said.
Budiasa immediately sounded the kulkul, a wooden drum used to call village residents, so that everyone could help extinguish the fire engulfing the temple.
Within a short time, three fire trucks belonging to Tabanan regency had arrived to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring buildings.
