House endorses poll supervisors

JAKARTA: The House of Representatives endorsed five members of the General Elections Supervisory Body in its plenary meeting here Tuesday.

The House's Commission II for home affairs elected Wahidah Suaib, Nur Hidayat, SF Agustiani Tio FS, Bambang Eko Chaya Widodo and Wardyaningsih as supervisors following an examination last week.

Commission chairman EE Mangindaan said the selected five out of the 15 candidates would be referred to the President to be commissioned as supervisory body members.

In his report to the plenary session, Mangindaan said the commission members chose the candidates based on their integrity, commitment, vision, mission, professionalism and general knowledge.

Mangindaan added the selection adhered to laws on the administration of general elections, which require the body to allocate 30 percent of its seats to women. --JP
