RI volleyballers to miss Olympics

JAKARTA: The Indonesian men's beach volleyball team will miss the upcoming Olympics Games in Beijing in August after failing to play in the final qualification tournament in Australia this week due to visa problems.

"It's stupid. It's not the first time the Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI) has failed to arrange the visas," said squad member Andy Ardiansyah, who partners with Koko Prasetyo Darkuncoro.

With the team's absence from the Olympics, head coach Slamet Mulyanto said he would prepare the squad for less competitive Asia and Asia Pacific level tournaments in India, Thailand and Indonesia, starting April. --JP
