LPS to host conference

JAKARTA: The country's deposit insurance agency, Lembaga Penjamin Simpanan, is set to host a two-day international conference on deposit insurance starting Thursday.

The sixth Asia Regional Committee annual meeting and international conference will be held in Denpasar, Bali, officially opened by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

Hundreds of delegates from deposit insurers around the world, local banks, Bank Indonesia, universities and Finance Ministry officials are expected to attend the conference.

The conference will address deposit insurance for small banks, as well as risk assessment and market intervention.

Deposit insurer representatives from the U.S., Japan, Canada, India and the Philippines will speak at the conference. -- JP
