JAKARTA: The International Labor Organization (ILO) pledged Wednesday to continue helping Indonesia resolve its labor problems, which is needed to improve the nation's investment climate.
In a meeting with Vice President Jusuf Kalla, ILO Executive Director of Employment Sector Jose M. Salazar-Xirinaches said the Geneva-based world body offered assistance to Indonesia to promote the newly launched bipartite dialogue.
"We help the bipartite process between the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) and labor unions. ILO will continue to be a partner in different ways in support of the dialogue process," Salazar-Xirinaches told reporters after the meeting.
The ILO executive is here to attend the Apindo congress, which began Wednesday.
Salazar-Xirinaches said the ILO would share ideas on how to draft labor costs and regulations that benefited both workers and employers.
He added the ILO was committed to developing the country's vocational training facilities to generate a skilled workforce, which includes migrant workers. -- JP
