KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: Seven candidate pairs had registered to run in the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) gubernatorial election as of the final day for registrations on Monday.
The NTT General Elections Commission (KPUD) will next scrutinize their applications before naming the candidates.
KPUD member Hans Ch Louk said in Kupang the process would be completed by May 5.
"The working committee will start studying the applications at 2 p.m. today," said Louk.
Campaign team leader of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) Kristo Blasin told reporters in Kupang the party's nominated pair of Frans Leburaya and Esthon Foennay was expected to garner 60 percent of the votes in the election on June 2.
"The entire party structure will work hard, and the candidates are very popular and widely known by people," said Blasin. -- JP
