Clad in traditional Papuan dress, singer Edo Kondolangit thrilled his audience with a performance of the legend of the creation of Yotefa Bay in Jayapura.
He performed alongside youths from the Papuan Arts and Entertainment Center in the play Nug Nug Wan staged over two days at the Taman Ismail Marzuki arts center in Central Jakarta.
"As a native son, I have a moral responsibility to preserve Papuan art and culture. We will continue working together to preserve them," Edo, who was born in Sorong, said backstage after the show.
He said the show also aimed to promote the bay and other tourism sites in Papua as the government launches its Visit Indonesia Year 2008 campaign.
"We're hoping more local and foreign tourists come to Papua," Edo said. -- JP/P.J.Leo
