PALEMBANG: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) raided a number of government offices searching for evidence to support graft allegations in connection with converting the Air Talang protected forest in Banyuasin into a development area.

The raids were conducted at the local forestry office and the Tanjung Api-api Port Development and Management Agency in the provincial capital city.

A day before, the commission also raided the local public works office and the Candratex office, which handled the Tanjung Api-api road project.

Thursday's raids were conducted by two different teams of the commission. The first team raided the forestry office on Jl Kolonel Haji Barlian in the city, while the second raided the port development and management agency on Jl. Rivai.

The two teams declined to comment on the outcome of the raids.

The KPK held several legislators as suspects in the case but none have stood trial at the anti-corruption court. -- JP
