The Sultan Hotel Jakarta plant trees

The Sultan Hotel Jakarta recently held a tree planting program to illustrate its active involvement in reducing carbon footprints and the effects of global warming.

Taking place within the hotel’s 32 acres of sprawling complex, the program was done on June 5, 2009, to commemorate World Environment Day.

Department heads and assistants joined groups of long-staying guests in the activity, planting approximately 100 trees categorized in 15 different endangered species of plants that include Jamblang (Java Plum or Syzygium cumini), Delima (dwarf pomegranate or Punica granatum 'Nana') and Kecapi (Sandoricatum kucape).

Pictured is David J. Anderson, one of The Sultan’s long-staying guests, planting a tree while The Sultan General Manager Mr. Jean F. Wasser looks on.
