Nokia, Indonesia invites the community to participate to be part of the movement concerned about the environment globally. Nokia has started with the program invites the community to have a personal responsibility for recycling mobile phones to provide mobile phone and their accessories that are not in use.
 
Event Media Workshop "Let's Manage Our e-waste" with the media and Bloggers have been held in Jakarta and attended by Francis Cheong, Nokia Regional Manager, Environmental Affairs Market, SEAP; Mahjoedin Chandra, Environmental Specialist TES-AMM; and Bambang N Gyat, Technical Advisor TES-AMM as the source of information.

"A global survey has been conducted by Nokia shows that 3 out of 4 people did not think to recycle their used mobile phones, and even, they do not realize that the mobile phone and accessories used can be recycled, said Francis Cheong. For example, a mobile phone that was used can be recycled carbon dioxide gas to reduce emissions of 12,585 kg.

 

If all those who have a mobile phone in the world that this is 3 billion, and the only one not only of those who recycle their mobile phone, it will reduce the raw material of 240,000 tons and reduce greenhouse gases equivalent to 4 million vehicles . "Movement recycling e-waste globally starting from the self-awareness and participation that will produce a significant contribution in protecting and preserving the environment in the long run," Francis added.

Nokia has started this recycling program in 1997 in Sweden and the UK. Since then, Nokia has more than 5000 point placement box recycling mobile phones and accessories in 85 countries around the world including Indonesia. Nokia has also been involved in the recycling program with the Retailers, service, manufacturer and other local governments around the world. In Indonesia, Nokia works with TES-AMM - a company recycling e-waste to Indonesia to invite the community to participate in the recycling e-waste with a mobile phone and accessories they used to be recycled. Up to 80% of Nokia product can be recycled.

In Indonesia, Nokia has provided a recycling box in the 91 Nokia Care Center to provide convenience to consumers to provide mobile phones and accessories that are not used for recycling. If all phones have been collected, the TES-AMM will send it to the factory in Singapore for recycling.
