PT BMW Indonesia, a subsidiary of the global car manufacturer, has donated Rp 300 million (about US$30,000) to the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) to assist victims of the recent earthquake in West Sumatra.

BMW Indonesia president director Ramesh Divyanathan presented the donation to PMI secretary general Iyang D Sukandar in Jakarta on Oct. 2.

“We are very concerned about the plight of the victims of the earthquake in West Sumatra and hope that this donation will assist them in their time of need,” said Divyanathan. “We chose to contribute our aid through the Indonesian Red Cross because of its proven record in handling natural disasters.”

The cash donation will be allocated to fulfill urgent needs such as medicine, blankets and tents.
