PT Indocement Tunggal Perkasa Tbk., known for its “Tiga Roda” cement brand, received “Gold Plated” certification for its factories in Citeureup, Bogor, at the recent Proper Program 2008-2009. Its factory in Palimanan, Cirebon received a “Green Plated” certification.
This is the second “Gold Plated” award for Indocement since the Environmental Management Performance Rating Program (Proper) was established by the Office of the State Minister of the Environment in 2002.
Various environment friendly policies that have become Indocement’s key factors are the enforcement of international environment management (ISO 14001), “reuse, recycle and recovery” practices among its workers, the using of alternative fuels in every production process, energy saving policies and the applying of Clean Development Mechanism to reduce global warming by running Blended Cement and alternative fuel projects.
Indocement was the first Indonesian company to receive a Certified Emission Reduction certificate from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
Both awards were presented by Vice President Yusuf Kalla on Oct. 15, 2009 at Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta.
