Peter Steller, general manager of Grand Hyatt Jakarta, has announced the appointment of Mark Long as new executive chef. Started his culinary journey at the tender age of 15, Long claimed various positions in various well-known hotel chains in Europe before obtaining the position of executive sous chef at the Edwardian International Hotel in UK.

He explored Australia’s culinary industry in 1992 and continued his career as chef/assistant manager at the Crown and Anchor Hotel in Adelaide, after which he was head chef at the Lilianfels Blue Mountains and later executive chef in resorts in Tasmania and Queensland.

Long was executive chef at Grand Hyatt Taipei, where he received accolades from media like Gourmet Traveller, before joining Grand Hyatt Singapore as executive sous chef in 2004. He was largely involved with the opening of the hotel’s award-wining restaurant, Mezza9.

“It is purely passion, the adrenaline rush and the excitement that make me love my job so much,” Long verifies.
