Ford Motor Indonesia has enjoyed the best third quarter since it began operating in the country in 2002.
The company recorded sales of 2,603 vehicles this third quarter, an increase of 9.6 percent from last year’s 2,375 vehicles sold.
“This quarter breaks the record for Ford’s sales in Indonesia,” said Will Angove, the president director of PT Ford Motor Indonesia.
Ford’s US sales in the third quarter also increased 5 percent from last year’s, raising its market share by 2 percent, while its annual sales peaked at 24 percent in Canada. And though the US’s automotive market suffered a 27 percent decline in September after the “cash for clunkers” program, Ford recorded the smallest setback (5 percent) compared to other producers.
The nation’s automotive industry is delving deeper into uncertainty with the declining sales trend of 32 percent in total in this quarter compared to the same period last year, but Ford seems to get stronger.
