The national electric car team of the University of Indonesia launched four types of electric vehicles on Monday.
Consisting of an electric bus that is able to carry 60 passengers with 120 kilowatts (kW), the Makara Electric Vehicle 01, which is a first generation electric city car with a capacity of 25 kW, the MEV 03 (a commercial hybrid system car that uses a 32kW induction motor) and the MEV 02 (another city car that uses AC induction with a 7.5 kW motor), the vehicles are said to feature capabilities that could replace current public transportation.

"We still need a permit to operate the vehicles but they are ready to hit the road," the university’s engineering science department professor Danardono Agus Sumarsono said as quoted by tempo.co.
He added that the vehicles could travel at 40 to 80 kilometers per hour with a full battery. (tif/kes)
