T

hose who frequently use community-based navigation app Waze will now discover a very interesting voice option to guide them through the city's traffic.

“Many people ask [me] about how it feels like to be a pilot of AirAsia. With this new feature, now everyone can feel as if they are exploring the air while interacting with me as the air traffic controller who guides the flight," said low-cost carrier AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes in a press release on Friday. "Just like a real air traffic controller, I have no control over the traffic congestion. But I can assure you that Waze will lead us to our destination at the quickest and in a less boring way."

Available for Android as well as iOS devices, this new feature can be found on the Settings menu by clicking the Voice submenu and then choosing the "English (UK) – Tony Fernandes" option.

"Voice guidance is currently our most popular feature and it is the best way to highlight a brand, especially in the context of driving," said Waze Malaysia marketing manager Edward Ling. “Drivers may find themselves flying instead of driving on the road when listening to Tony’s voice; as if he is their co-pilot."
