Novelist Ahmad Fuadi agrees with the adage that great writers are those who read more than write.
Based on his personal experience, the man, who completed his Master’s degree in media and public affairs at George Washington University, said it took him years of reading for research before he wrote a novel.
“For example, I did four years of research on various reading materials before I wrote my upcoming fourth novel Anak Danau [Children of the Lake],” Ahmad told The Jakarta Post.
He released his debut novel Negeri 5 Menara (Land of Five Towers) in July 2009, which became an instant hit. He followed up the novel with Ranah 3 Warna (Realm of Three Colors) in 2011 and Rantau 1 Muara in 2013 and thus completed a trilogy.

Ahmad said when he is not doing research for an upcoming novel, he loved reading books on various subjects ranging from Sufism to non-fictional works.

The story centers on a character called The Youngest One, who was a war victim during the Japanese occupation. Rahasia Meede

It is very rare to find a strong and page-turning historiy-based novel in Indonesia. This book, the title of which translates as Meede’s Secret, was written by a history lover and a former student activist. A movie adaptation of this book will come out, and I think it is going to be a great movie. This book deserves more recognition and readers.
