ide-hailing application Uber Indonesia has launched a chat feature that allows users to send text messages to their drivers.
The In-App Chat feature, which can be accessed globally for free, does not require passengers to share their smartphone number to the drivers. It also operates in real-time, meaning that users will know whether their messages have been sent or read by the drivers. Users will also receive notification if there's a failure in sending the message.
When the passengers have reached their destination, all the conversations in the chat room will be automatically deleted for privacy reasons.

Those who seek to use the feature can download the latest version of Uber app on their Android or Apple devices.
Similar chatting feature has previously been available on one of Uber's competitors, Grab. (kes)
