The inaugural Indonesian Art Exhibition is slated to run on Jan. 17-21 at the Jababeka Convention Center (JCC) in Cikarang, West Java.
The event will be hosted by publicly listed property developer Jababeka Tbk in collaboration with the National Gallery Singapore, according to tempo.co.
To be opened by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, the exhibit will showcase artworks from a range of Indonesian maestros, including Affandi, Kartika Affandi, Hendra Gunawan, Soedibio and H. Widayat.
It aims to inform the public about Indonesia’s strengths in the fields of art and design, Jababeka Group head Setyono Djuandi Darmono said during press conference on Thursday.
He referred to Indonesian arts and culture as capital that could improve the country’s competitiveness.
Darmono conceded that it would take time and effort to apply art and design in the branding of industrial products. However, the exhibition could be the opportunity to create awareness for stakeholders. (jes/kes)
