ssociation of Indonesian Automotive Manufacturers (Gaikindo) said 1.07 million vehicles were sold in the wholesale market throughout 2017.
Gaikindo cochairman I Jongkie Sugiarto told Antara news agency on Tuesday that the number had increased 1.6 percent from the previous year.
Moreover, Japanese automotive manufacturers such as Toyota, Honda, Daihatsu, Mitsubishi and Suzuki were the five biggest-selling brands in Indonesia last year.

Toyota topped the list, selling 371,332 units as it was supported by the brand’s multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) models, such as Avanza, Calya and Innova, which were also the top-three most popular car models in 2017.
Meanwhile, Honda was in second place, selling 186,859 cars with its Honda Brio Satya and HR-V.
Daihatsu placed third position for selling 186,381 cars with its Daihatsu Sigra and Xenia. Mitsubishi and Suzuki were in fourth and fifth place after selling 121,395 and 111,660 cars, respectively. (wir/asw)
