A photo of the newspaper was shared on the Instagram account of Brian's music label @88rising, as reported by kompas.com on Thursday.

"Front page of Los Angeles Times 2018," read the caption of the post, which showed the "Dat Stick" singer posing for the camera wearing a black sweater and gold necklace.

"Indonesian rapper Rich Brian, the face of label 88rising, is the first solo Asian act to reach No. 1 on the iTunes hip-hop chart," read the newspaper's photo caption.

The singer's name started to gain global attention following the launch of his music video, “Dat Stick”, which went viral online. His song titled "Who That Be" also attracted many, in which he still used "Rich Chigga" as his stage name.

After joining label 88+, Brian started to spread his wings in the US music industry and moved to the country last year.

His first album, Amen, was launched on Feb. 2. Featuring 14 songs, it was included on the iTunes chart for hip hop music. (kes)
