ocal group Trio Lestari, comprising singers Tompi, Sandhy Sondoro and Glenn Fredly, has announced its newest single, “Takdir Itu Kamu” (Fate is You).

The song will air on radio stations starting on Wednesday, along with a lyric video on YouTube.

Slightly different from what the group has offered in the past, the single is a power ballad with love as the main theme.

In a press conference on Monday, the singers said they wanted to do something they had never done before.

“We wanted to do something that is toned down, and at the same time, to emphasize our personalities. We wanted to be out of our usual comfort zone,” Glenn said.

“Takdir Itu Kamu” was written by Trio Lestari, with music and piano written by Yudhistira Arianto and orchestra arrangement by Ricky Lionardi, who also served as producer.

Collaborating with Indonesian game developer PT Agate International, the group also launched an online game, “Tebak Lagu Bareng Trio Lestari” (Guess Which Song with Trio Lestari), available for Android and iOS users.

Founded in 2011, Trio Lestari has been known to make humorous political and social commentaries on stage.

Each singer is renowned for his vocals and individual music career before joining the group, making Trio Lestari a mixture of Glenn’s R&B and soul, Tompi’s pop and Sandhy’s light rock.

The group released an album in 2015 called Wangi (Fragrant).

An intimate concert is next for the singers.

“We want to get closer to the audience. We want to welcome 2019 by doing pleasant things,” Glenn said.
