undreds of mourners attended the funeral of veteran comedian Margono (Gogon) at Bendan village public cemetery (TPU), Boyolali, Central Java, on Wednesday.

Along with the family and neighbors, comedians and artists also attended the service, such as Tukul Arwana, Cak Diqin and Endah Laras.

However, former fellow members of comedy group Srimulat such as Tarzan, Kadir or Tessy reportedly were not present.

Gogon was buried in a cemetery situated around 500 meters from his home.

The ritual of brobosan was carried out beforehand, in which Gogon’s family members walked beneath the casket.

On behalf of Srimulat, Tukul Arwana said that the comedy community felt a great loss with the passing of Gogon. In Tukul’s view, Gogon had a trademark like no other.

Musician Cak Diqin said that Gogon was an artist full of creativity.

“An amazing comedian, he never tired of coming up with fresh ideas. May his deeds of making people laugh place him right in heaven,” he said.

Ari Mustika, Gogon’s eldest son, regretted that he was not by his father’s side when he passed away.

“I was taking a shower. By the time I was finished, he was gone,” he said.

Gogon died on Tuesday in Lampung.

He had taken part in a show in North Lampung alongside artists Didi Kempot, Kadir and Doyok. After the show, Gogon reportedly looked exhausted.

“He fainted the morning after and was immediately taken to the hospital. But it was too late,” said Didi Kempot. (wng)
