Efek Rumah Kaca release single as TV show theme song

Jakarta-based indie band Efek Rumah Kaca has released a new single, written as the theme song for the popular talk show Mata Najwa.
For the composition, titled "Seperti Rahim Ibu" (Like Mother's Womb), the trio of singing guitarist Cholil Mahmud, drummer Akbar Bagus Sudibyo and bass player Poppy Airil wrote music to lyrics penned by the talk show’s host, Najwa Shihab.
"Since the very beginning, I wanted to have an original song that could amplify the message. And after Mata Najwa took a break, I really wanted to use a song from ERK," Najwa said in a statement, referring to Efek Rumah Kaca by its initials.
Efek Rumah Kaca has long been known for lyrics with social and political messages. The band's most famous single, "Di Udara" (In the Air), from the band's self-titled debut album, tackles the assassination of prominent human rights activist Munir Said Thalib.
"Seperti Rahim Ibu" was first performed live at Mata Najwa in February this year.
The single is now available on streaming platform Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer and can be purchased from iTunes.
