akarta-based indie band Polka Wars, known for its baroque guitar-based compositions and cryptic lyrics, has released two new songs with lyrics delving into the territory of social commentary.
“Rekam Jejak” (Track Record) focuses on human-rights abuse as its subject matter, while “Mapan” (Established) talks about the length that people will go to for material gain.
The two songs mark the first time Polka Wars has released tracks in Indonesian. All the songs in the band's critically acclaimed debut album Axis Mundi were in English.

The song “Mapan” was written in 2014 while Polka Wars was in New York, in the United States, recording material that would come out in the aptly titled EPNY.
The trip to New York was paid for by sneaker producer Converse, which gave local bands the chance to record at a professional studio in the US in a competition called the Rubber Tracks contest.
The two singles are currently available on all streaming platforms and can also be viewed on YouTube.
