John Lydon to voice villain in new 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' series

In the fourth animated series of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, John Lydon of the Sex Pistols and Public Image Ltd will lend his voice to the character of Meat Sweats.

ohn Lydon, frontman of British punk bands the Sex Pistols and Public Image Ltd, is set to voice the character of Meat Sweats in Nickelodeon’s new animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as reported by Spin.

Lydon’s involvement in the series was announced at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego, in which his character was described as a “power-hungry mutant pig” that holds a meat-tenderizing hammer as his weapon.

The trailer for the 2-D animated series was also revealed at the event.

According to Pitchfork, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a reboot of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. The reboot will see the turtles go on new adventures to unlock mystical secrets of New York City and come face-to-face with absurd mutants and villains.

Scheduled to premiere on Sept. 17, Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey, Pitch Perfect’s John Michael Higgins and The Vampire Diaries’ Kat Graham will also join Lydon as part of the series’ star-studded cast of voices.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise started in the 1980s as a comic book series published by Mirage Studios. Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be its fourth animated series. (anm/wng)
