ondon-based iconic rock and roll band The Libertines will play their first gig in the country for the first time in a two-day music festival, which will also feature fellow Brit rockers The Vaccines and American indie rock band Cloud Nothings.

The Libertines have listed their next performance for the Hodgepodge Superfest on their website on Sept. 1, which will be the band's first performance in the region. The band's guitarist Carl Barat and drummer Gary Powell have played in Singapore, but this will be the first time the collective play here together.

The Libertines are expected to headline the first day of the festival on Saturday at Allianz Ecopark in Ancol, North Jakarta.

The Libertines were best known for their critically acclaimed album Up The Bracket, released in 2002, at the start of the garage rock revivalist movement spearheaded by New York band The Strokes.

Up The Bracket, produced by The Clash's Mick Jones, drew attention from rock fans for their spiky guitar melodies and taut rhythm section. The band was also known for the acrimonious relationship between singer Pete Doherty and guitarist Carl Barat.

The band took a hiatus after releasing their self-titled second album. They returned in 2015 with their third album Anthems for Doomed Youth.
