BTS to deliver speech at New York-based UN for youth

BTS will reportedly make a speech at the 73rd General Assembly of the United Nations.
According to media reports on Thursday, the K-pop act is scheduled to attend a ceremony for Generation Unlimited, a new global partnership by the United Nations Children’s Fund at noon Monday at the UN headquarters in New York, a day before the general assembly kicks off.
The partnership is dedicated to increasing opportunities and investments for children and young people aged between 10 and 24, according to UNICEF. At the event, BTS will give a three-minute speech in front of high authority figures and heads of state, including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Executive Director of UNICEF Henrietta Fore and South Korea’s first lady Kim Jung-sook. It marks the first time a K-pop act has been invited to the assembly.

BTS had previously partnered with UNICEF to launch a global campaign dubbed “Love Myself,” an initiative that calls for an end to violence against children and teenagers, last November, as an extension of its mainstay “Love Yourself” narrative.
Currently on the US leg of its “Love Yourself” world tour, BTS recently wrapped up its performance in Los Angeles.
This month is poised to be a busy one for the group, as it is set to perform on “The Tonight Show,” one of the most popular and longest-running nighttime talk shows in the US, on Sept. 25, on “Good
Morning America” on Sept. 26 and at the Prudential Center from Sept. 28-29.
