he celebrity-brand relationship game goes from strength to strength as fashion house Coach named actor and producer Michael B. Jordan as the first global face of menswear line on Thursday.

Jordan, the co-star who steals the limelight in superhero hit movie Black Panther, and owner of the film production company Outlier Society Productions, is regarded by the brand as the perfect embodiment of a Coach man.

“Michael is cool and authentic, and he really embodies the Coach guy,” the creative director of Coach, Stuart Vevers, said in a press release.

Vevers went on to say that he had the chance to get to know Jordan over the last couple of years.

“He always looks great in Coach, so it felt really natural to build our relationship,” said Vevers.

More than just looking great in Coach (many of us might think he looks great in anything), Jordan is also regarded as sharing the brand’s belief in the modern American Dream and values of optimism and inclusivity.

He redefines Hollywood standards by creating opportunities and empowering others’ careers, for instance by declaring that his film production company adopts inclusion riders (a clause in an actor’s contract where they can set out baseline diversity requirements for the cast and crew before the actor commits to a project).

Jordan states in a press release that he is honored to be joining the Coach family and that he has great respect for the company’s vision.

“I’m looking forward to jumping into the creative process and exploring fashion through a different lens,” said the actor.

The partnership between Jordan and Coach will include special design projects with Vevers and philanthropic endeavors with the Coach Foundation.

Expect to see the actor get involved in special collections, the way Selena Gomez, the brand’s womenswear global face, collaborates to create accessories and ready-to-wear capsule collections for the brand. (mut)
