Neonomora has released her second album, Waters, under SAORSA Records.

Produced by the singer along with fellow musicians such as John Paul Patton and Viki Vikranta of rock band Kelompok Penerbang Roket and Adhe Arrio from Double Deer Records, the album took almost three years to finish, according to Neonomora.

Antara news agency reported that Waters was written after the singer’s best friend died.

Waters is an analogy for a sea of tears. Although the sadness over my friend’s death has slowly faded, I faced a string of harsh realities during the making of the album,” she said.

One of them is when the album’s material vanished, forcing her to record it all over again.

“But that incident allowed me to meet new acquaintances who became my best friends,” said Neonomora.

Waters contains six new songs, along with three previously released songs, “Be Still, My Soul”, “Waters” and “Sapphire”.

Neonomora or Ratih Suryahutamy is known for her strong and thunderous vocals, the main attraction in her music that often combines rock, soul, folk and electronic. Her debut album, Seeds, was released in 2014.

In a recent Instagram post, she wrote that the new album had a different side compared to her debut offering. "When you listen to Seeds, the album is a full-on scream of youthful spirit. Waters has a different kind of scream; it’s a scream for peace and tranquility within oneself, to understand the universe within me a lot deeper."

Waters is out tomorrow, and by tomorrow I mean at 00:00 GMT+7 later tonight. I feel extremely grateful to have received lots of humbling responses on DM about Blinding and Lies that have been released earlier that I haven’t had a chance to reply each one; the reason is because I do everything on my own, including some of the visual/artwork materials you see on my social media accounts, that made me pretty caught up with the workload, because I self-manage everything at the moment (eversince renouncing from the record label I once chipped myself in to help build). Although it can be quite exhausting at times, I try to see it as a complete liberation. It’s hard to see it as a burden, since this is what I have always done and what I tried passing on to others ever since I started this out. It’s as if the verve of independency is already implanted in the core of my soul. I’m really thankful to have been equipped with the ability to create. . So many things happened ever since Seeds, and Seeds was nearly 4 years ago. Crazy how time can change the frame of mind of a person. One of the things that I was really afraid to say publicly is that I fell ill. I discovered a swollen node in my neck about 2 and a half years back that appeared to be thyroid. It got to the point where the swelling grew bigger and I felt devastated, because it’s just an inch away from my voice chord — the organ that’s vital for singing. After a hard time resolving, I finally decided to take a break for a while. During that time I kept going back and forth to the studio to make sure Waters is ready. . When you listen to Seeds, the album is a full-on scream of youthful spirit. Waters has a different kind of scream; it’s a scream for peace and tranquility within oneself, to understand the universe within me a lot deeper. So apart from earnestly dedicating this album to my late bestfriend Randy, Waters happened to be a gift the Universe wanted me to give to myself. It probably came down to remind my future self, that I have been to that rise and fall, and that’s the beauty of it all. . I also hope through Waters, you could also find your one true calling. . — N.

The artwork for Waters, entitled “The 4 Elements of Water Dancing in the Same Depth of the Sea” was created by Bandung-based mural artist Awan Pamungkas and graphic designer Dede F. Ch.

The music video for the single “Waves” will be released in October. (wng)
