Korea Indonesia Film Festival 2018 to screen 19 films
The 2018 Korea Indonesia Film Festival will feature hit movies from Indonesia and Korea.

The annual Korea Indonesia Film Festival (KIFF) is set to return for four days from Oct. 18 to 21.
The festival will take place in five CGV Cinemas in four different Indonesian cities namely Jakarta (Grand Indonesia and Pacific Place), South Sumatra’s capital Palembang (Social Market), Yogyakarta (J-Walk) and South Sulawesi’s capital Makassar (Daya Grand Square).
A total of 19 films from various genres will be screened throughout the event. It consists of four Indonesian titles (Dilan 1990, Pengabdi Setan, Si Doel the Movie and Susah Sinyal) and 15 Korean titles including Along with the Gods 1 and 2, The Spy Gone North and Gonjiam Haunted Asylum. Due to high-demand since last year’s KIFF, The Battleship Island will return to the festival.
“We’ll screen Along with the Gods 1 and 2 back to back,” said Rivki Morais, KIFF festival manager, at a press conference on Thursday, Oct. 11, in Central Jakarta. “For the popular horror film Gonjiam Haunted Asylum, we’ll screen it in the ScreenX format, so the ghosts will appear from all directions.”
Special content films supported by the Seoul Art Center will be available as well, namely A Bird Story, Dallae Story and Magic Flute that will be opened for the public free-of-charge. Animation films presented by the Korea Asean Animation Omnibus will also be screened at CGV Cinemas Pacific Place.

Korean thriller The Negotiation is set to open the festival on Oct. 18 which also marks the film’s Indonesian premiere. Starring Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin, The Negotiation tells the story of Ha Chae-Yoon (Son Ye-jin) who becomes the crisis negotiator for the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. She only has 12 hours to save hostages held by a weapons smuggler Min Tae-Koo (Hyun Bin).
KIFF 2018 will be closed by mystery-thriller flick Forgotten. Directed by Jang Hang-jun, it narrates the story of Jin-seok (Kang Ha-neul) who feels there is something strange with his older brother Yoo-seok (Kim Moo-yeol).
Similar to KIFF 2017, there will be no Korean celebrities attending the event, but young Indonesian actor Iqbaal Ramadhan (Dilan 1990) will be present during the festival’s opening. “Our main consideration is the line-up. We’ll contact the celebrities if the line-up has been decided,” said Rivky. “But our time is very limited in these two years, so it’s hard to contact them. But we’ll try our best next year.”
