select cast of five renowned global cultural icons who own and advocate Rimowa are featured in short films marking the brand’s 120th anniversary. The latest installment to be revealed is directed by Jared Knecht and features businessman, restaurateur and celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa. It was shot in Hakone, a small town outside of Tokyo.

The film follows Nobu’s life in the style of a Japanese folktale and retells his travels around the world, experiencing different cultures and cuisines that inspired him to follow his dream.

The story also features Nobu’s own Rimowa suitcase, which he considers his “travel partner”, as written in the press release.

“It’s very important for me to take my life experience...to find different food and cultures,” Nobu said.

“Nobu Matsuhisa's career is an exemplary illustration of mastery and the passion it takes to hone, develop and push one’s craft forward,” said Rimowa's chief executive officer Alexandre Arnault.

The five films will be combined into one anthem film, according to the release. Other icons are tennis legend Roger Federer, men’s artistic director at Louis Vuitton, founder and creative director of Off-white Virgil Abloh, British fashion model and activist Adwoa Aboah and jewelry designer as well as founder and creative director of AMBUSH Yoon Ahn.

The full campaign was created in partnership between agency Anomaly in Berlin and Rimowa's internal creative team. (acr/wng)
