Band Bhinneka Svara IX features Jokowi in clip to commemorate Youth Pledge Day

hinneka Svara IX released a new single titled “Indonesiaku” to coincide with the 90th anniversary of the Youth Pledge on Sunday. The band also released a video of the song featuring President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

In a surprise appearance in the music video, Jokowi stands among the band members and recites the Sumpah Pemuda (Youth Pledge).

Kompas.com (https://entertainment.kompas.com/read/2018/10/29/162935810/band-bhinneka-svara-ix-dan-joko-widodo-berkolaborasi-untuk-indonesiaku) reported that M. Romahurmuziy, the chairman of United Development Party (PPP) who is also a member of the band, said the song was intentionally released on Youth Pledge day, its lyrics depicting the beauty of the country.

“We have to be thankful that Indonesia is blessed [with natural beauty], and one of the ways to do so is by being creative and paying tribute to this beloved nation,” Romahurmuziy, also known as Rommy, was quoted as saying.

Bhinneka Svara IX hails from SMAN 1 Yogyakarta. The members graduated in 1990, and reunited 25 years after graduation to release Indonesiaku.

Guitarist Heru is the only one pursuing a professional career in music.

“I hope this song keeps inspiring our nation’s youth to be creative,” he said. (iru/mut)
