I

rish singer Sinead O’Connor (now Shuhada' Davitt) took to social media on Tuesday to express her disinterest in spending time with “white people”.

I'm terribly sorry. What I'm about to say is something so racist I never thought my soul could ever feel it. But truly I never wanna spend time with white people again (if that's what non-muslims are called). Not for one moment, for any reason. They are disgusting.

The tweet made on her official account @MagdaDavitt77 read “I’m terribly sorry. What I’m about to say is something so racist I never thought my soul could ever feel it. But truly I never wanna spend time with white people again (if that’s what non-muslims are called). Not for one moment, for any reason. They are disgusting.”

It had received 2,900 comments, 487 likes and 194 retweets as of Nov. 7.

O’Connor followed the tweet with another in which she criticized Twitter’s current state of censorship, which read, “Interesting to see if Twitter bans this when it allows people like Trump and Millbank spew satanic filth upon even my country.”

Her following tweet read “BTW if one IS an intelligent theologian and has taken the journey, one would know there is no more talk of ancient violence in the Q’ran as the Tanukh, the Bible or The sodding Mahabarata. And its ALL EQUALLY IRELLEVANT TO OUR TIMES #ForFuckSake #ReignofWhiteMANover”.

O’Connor’s most recent tweet on the matter read, “Final word. If its ‘Crazy’ to care. Then by all means, spank my ass and call me Fruity loops :)”.

Despite the attention the first tweet seemed to garner, one reply by @KentWombie had received 480 likes at the time of writing. It read, “I reckon you’ll change your mind again in about 7 hours and fifteen days…”

The tweet was a reference to “Nothing Compares 2 U”, a song written by Prince in 1985 which O’Connor revived in 1990.

The singer recently converted to Islam and made the announcement via Twitter on Oct. 20. (acr/wng)
