American entertainment company Hulu is developing shows based on the Wild Cards book series, as reported by Variety.
Edited by Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin, Wild Cards is a science fiction superhero book series. Set in the present day, the series explores the aftermath of an alien virus released over Manhattan in 1946 that killed 90% of those it infected. Decades later, the oppressed survivors look to define their own future.
Since the release of its first installment in in 1987, the series has grown to include 27 books, with over 40 contributing authors. The latest entries in the series, Low Chicago and Texas Hold ’Em were released earlier this year.

Hulu is set to develop two shows set in the Wild Cards universe, and will produce the projects along with television company Universal Cable Production.
The Secret Circle television series co-creator Andrew Miller will write and produce both shows. Other executive producers include Wild Cards co-editor Melinda Snodgrass, Game of Thrones co-executive producer Vince Gerardis and Martin himself. (iru/wng)
