Instagram recently shared the most popular moments, content and trends that occurred on the platform this year.

The heart symbol (❤️) dominated content on Instagram throughout the year, in the form of emojis, GIFs and stickers. The emoji was used more than 14 billion times in comments. “Heart Love by Arata” and “Heart Eyes” were the most used GIF sticker and face filter in Stories, respectively.

The fastest growing hashtags globally were #metoo, #timesup, and #marchforourlives, while in Indonesia, they were # hspn2018#welovejakarta,and #BebasSampah2020

The fastest-growing community trend on Instagram in Indonesia were #bestfanarmy#ketodietand #bisnisanakmuda. Meanwhile, #asiangames2018was the country’s most popular event.

Fashion continues to be one of the most sought-after content by Instagram users in Indonesia. Some of the most used hashtags were #bajumurah#hijab, and #gamis.
