LiSA, SPYAIR to be featured at AFA Singapore 2020 Online

The 2020 Anime Festival Asia Online will feature over 40 guests and brands.

apanese pop culture event Anime Festival Asia (AFA) Singapore will return this year in an online format due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2020 AFA will be held from Dec. 5 to 6 on YouTube and website. People in Southeast Asia can watch the event for free after they register on its website to access the event’s chatroom and join giveaways.

The event will feature over 40 guests and brands. Numerous Japanese performers, cosplayers, voice actors and bands will make their appearances, namely 22/7, Aimu Sora, Amy Sakaguchi, Anly, Artgerm, A SCA, Ayaka Ohashi, BLUE ENCOUNT, Burnout Syndromes, COALAMODE., DISH//, Eir Aoi, EXiNA, FLOW, halca, JUNNA, KANAME☆, KISIDA KYODAN & THE AKEBOSI ROCKETS, KOEDA, LiSA, Liyuu, Lozareena, May’n, Miki Saito, Moona Hoshinova, Nekota Ashu, ORESAMA, PELICAN FANCLUB, ReoNa, Rithe, Ryokuoshoku Shakai, Seven Billion Dots, Shogo Yano, SPYAIR, SUKIMA SWITCH, the peggies, Tomori Kusunoki, Toshiyuki Toyonaga, yanaginagi, YOASOBI and Yui Ninomiya.

This year’s AFA online is also held in collaboration with Japan’s anisong (anime songs) concert Animelo Summer Live for Anisama Watch Party special show. The show will feature Asaka and Koji Saito as producers of Animelo Summer Live.

Additionally, the event will have a special segment for animated film Cells at Work!: Special Screening Edition. The film is based on a manga series by Akane Shimizu and its anime version aired in 2018. Scheduled to be released on Dec. 17, Cells at Work!: Special Screening Edition is set between the first and second seasons of the anime.

Initiated in 2008, AFA is among the largest Japanese pop culture events in the region. Its first installment in Indonesia took place in 2012. In August, it launched an online platform AFA Station to bring the event’s offline experience to the digital realm. (wir/wng)
